Finishing Off The Year Strong
The UAPB Men dominated the 2025 PGA Works Championship at Whistling Straits, capturing the championship by 32 Strokes.
It was a great week, at an iconic location, filled with challenging golf and tough conditions. I’m proud to call myself a National Champion!
Keeping His First Place Finish Percentages High
Jonathon has extended his 36% First Place Finish Percentage into his first semester of college, thanks to his great play in his second-ever collegiate event, the SAS Championship.

Jonathon has played in 70 Golf tournaments so far, counting his first three collegiate events (Fall 2024), and has 25 First Place Finishes – which translates into (and maintains) a 36% Winning Percentage.
“I’m very proud of our team performance, said UAPB head coach Roger Totten. ” Winning two consecutive invitational against some good programs, says a lot about our program. As we approached the season, the players know that the key to success is believing in the program.
I’m proud of the way our team played, especially Jonathon, who comes from a strong background from golf in his family, but played with confidence all throughout the tournament.
UAPB had three players to finished in the top-5, with freshman Jonathon Baumann leading the way as he continue to put his stamp in the Golden Lions program, by winning the outright title with a final score of even par (67, 72, 71-210).

Jonathon was being recruited by multiple colleges and universities, but believes the University of Arkansas (Pine Bluff) aligns best with his goals moving forward… Plus, it doesn’t hurt that UAPB is the current back-to-back Men’s Golf (D1 SWAC) Conference Champions.
Jonathon is excited about his future and looks forward to being an asset to the UAPB Men’s Golf Team and UAPB Student Body.
Jonathon only started playing golf in June of 2020… In that very short time, he has become a strong player with big goals.
While his Junior Golf is limited, Jonathon has won 24 times (36%) in a Total of 67 Tournaments, plus he has finished in the Top Five 24 other times for a “Top 5” total of 47 times (70%).
These numbers include:
2-Wins, 1-Second, 2-Thirds, 1-Fifth, and 1-Seventh in the seven Texas 6A High School Tournaments he played his Senior year… Plus, he got 3rd Place at District (1st Place Medalist for Regionals) and again, for the second year in a row, was on the 1st Team All-District…
Jonathon currently has +3.6 GHIN and a 72.3 Scoring Average in his Senior Year’s High School Tournaments, and a 72.875 Total Tournament Combined Scoring Average for his Junior and Senior Year of High School.
